Rocket Pack

I'm one of those ppl who is stuck with having to use "weird"/uncommon size batteries.. like the CR2, and CR123a, etc etc.. Yes, they have small form factor, and not that expensive. BUT hey, my cheap flash remote trigger which uses a CR2 just ran out of power couple of days ago, and i cant find that battery anywhere in Makassar! (umm thats in Indonesia if anyone wondering..)

So.. what about.. using a less-cool battery, as long as it works? and voila! I actually love this 10cents upgrade (which took 15 mins or much less). Now i dont have to carry spare CR2 batteries, nor worry not to find it anywhere if i'm on a trip or on a weird island.

All I need for a each unit is 2 AA batteries. And I know I'll be carrying a lot of extras of these, and can be found anywhere.

I went Malino!

Yep we went on a day trip to Malino . Pretty good 2 hours trip, not that tiring, and the road wasn't too bad. Overall, its a pretty good experience now that i brought my camera.

Here's a view to the 16,000m2 piece of land that belongs to my father:

Awesome backyard, eh?

There's an old house, already beaten by the weather on that land. I guess it used to be a retreat area.

Meet my best buddy:

Next, we headed on to the Malino's famous market. Gosh, its soo cheap, its soo fresh. Everything was.

Umm maybe except for.. umm.. nvm you get the idea wat the place was like. Its a real traditional marketplace.

Ta-da!

Met Tasha on the swing with her friend just before we left..

And the famous boiled corns on the way back to Makassar..

Ring Flash-ed

I did some test with a cheapo ring flash I made today. Cost? 5000 rupiahs (abt 50 cents) as compared to a commercial version at $199. Whew. Here's some test shots:

Here's the ring flash.. pretty similar, eh? :)

No, you dont need any instructions on how to make this. Its just (literally) the flash tied up to a shiny plastic bowl. The white thing at the bottom half of the ring, is just a piece of paper (70gsm) to even out the spread of light. 40 mins of fun.
