Old shot: Water drop

A while ago I tried catching images of crown of water drop.. by luck. Well it worked, but i had to capture many shots before i can actually get a good one. So i decided to build an electronic sensor to sense the water droplet and trigger my xti. The sensor worked pretty well, and I was able to capture nice shots. Oh, one more thing, a cool feature I had on the sensor was the flexibility to determine the amount of delay between the moment it detects water droplet, and the moment it triggers the camera. Someday i should build one for capturing bullet too.

Here's before the sensor, using luck. This is probably the best among the first 100 shots. I was using halogen for the lighting on this..

Here's after the sensor: i was actually able to capture different moments of the drop sequence.

Ezra

Ezra is Yurika's (our, actually) tuition student. Usually Yurika will be teaching him; but I've been taking over in the past 3 weeks because she is back in Indonesia for her sister's wedding, and chinese new year. He's a very smart boy, but gets bored with maths very very quickly! This primary 3 kid will lose his interest+concentration after 45 mins... so I have to offer him candy... or talk wrestling with him (he loves wrestling)... or make a deal...

One thing about him, he goes crazy under water. He will start shouting and jumping once he gets wet! how i wish he's like that when doing math.. well, anyways, here's some photos shot when we were swimming after tuition today. Yeap, promising him to swim after tuition really makes him do well in maths :)

Here's Ezra warming up in front of the camera:

Rock on! Ezra style:

Ok, this was his idea, he said he wants to be taken like this. We tried quite a number of times to get this one. Initially, he was wearing his goggles, but each time he jumps, his goggles will be on his nose...

Haha he really couldn't go any lower..

We tried to make his hair like superman... but the 'S' curl just kept getting straight!

He's posing like a pro wrestler:

He wanted to be taken when he's jumping in. Love this sequence..

Australia trip 12/07

I finally edited these pics. We went for a 6 days tour to Australia last December, Melb-Gold Coast-Syd. It was pretty fun, but got pretty boring after a couple of days..

Melb:

Our first destination was Chinatown... The Chinese food was not bad at all... for a tour. Anyways, I caught sight of this interesting restaurant. The lady with umbrella stood there to offer the menu to those passerby.

Here's my mom and dad (he's the one with the sling bag, btw). It was a pretty chilly evening, but a beautiful walk. I think I fell in love with that town. The place was beautiful and the people are very nice..

We had Thai food for dinner. Very good Thai food, very different from those I tasted in America.. The food was probably not very authentic, but good enough.

I cant remember this cathedral's name, but its somewhere downtown melb...

Melbourne Exhibition Center..

A view of Melbourne from a bridge when we were walking to the restaurant:

Gold Coast:

Our next destination was Gold Coast.. nah, wasnt as nice as Melb. The place of attractions were 'ok', didnt really fascinate me. We went for chinese food as soon as we got there. I was surprized that most of the chinese restaurants were serving the same kind of food.. just different plates..

Haha! the cutest shot in the journey. My little bro pointed this out to me and I was lucky to get it in time.. we were at the sea world.. this guy tattooed himself and he's so different from the rest..

Some shots from the aquarium by my little bro:

Another fish... This kind of fish is really good when steamed with ginger and soy sauce...

Our next destination was Dream world.. Animals! Here's a kangoroo.. eh, wait, did i spell that right? kangeroo? kangaroo? kanguroo? whatever.

This dude was awesome. I was able to get my lens as close as 20cm from him and he would still smile.. the contrast was excellent for the lens too.. thx man.

That "Lion King" moment..

Shhhhh she's sleeping....

Nightmare... Or maybe he was sleeping somewhere higher and he fell down to this branch and didn't even relize it.. The other guy was even laughing in his sleep.

A pond next to our hotel.. just thought its pretty interesting.

Sydney:
Sydney was probably the "New York of Australia". Its a larger and denser city, an older city I suppose. We went for a meal on a cruise(food was pretty bad), bus tour around the exclusive housing area, Bondi beach, then downtown to shop. Pretty nice view from the cliff while we were touring the housing area. I didn't take any picture at downtown Sydney because it was too crowded and I hate taking pictures where there are too many people. Camera bag was too heavy too.. That 24-70 canon was aching my shoulder..

Pics of the harbour:

A view from our boat:

Pics of Sydney!
No, that is not dirt on my lens. It's part of the bridge.

Here's my mom at the Bondi Beach. Although the beach looks clean, it was just way too crowded.. look at all those ppl! whoa! How I wish the beach in Bali is this clean..

Bali:
Our last destination before going home was Bali. We stayed over for 2 days for new year before going back to Makassar. It was pretty good, especially with the heavy rain starting 9pm on that new year eve day; nothing's better than staying in your blanket, cold aircon, and heavy rain on new year eve.
